Mission/Purpose
We are members of Sister Cities International, a non-profit organization of
U.S. communities linked globally to promote lasting friendships. Originally
founded under the guidance of President Eisenhower, Sister Cities International
has helped more than 1200 cities link with over 2100 foreign cities in 127 countries.

Los Altos Sister Cities, Inc. (LASCI) is the non-profit, volunteer organization which manages the sister cities program for the City of Los Altos. We are located in Santa Clara County in the state of California, about 40 miles south of San Francisco in the heart of the Silicon Valley.
 Los Altos is a small bedroom community with a downtown village atmosphere. It is served by the major airports of San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose. The population of Los Altos, incorporated in 1952, is about 29,000 with a mix of retired seniors and incoming young families. Originally the Los Altos area was agricultural, growing apricots, plums and walnuts. Currently, it is at the center of high-tech industries including electronics and R&D. Our schools consistently rank at or near the top of the state.

- Upcoming Event: On Saturday 24 March a volunteer/non-profit expo will be held at the Los Altos City Youth (LACY) building. It is called ENCORE, and is aimed at folks who are looking for volunteer opportunities. The event is FREE and lunch is included. - In Memorium: Our much loved long-time Board member, past President, and VP for Rustington, Phyllis Semple, died suddenly in October. We all will miss her very much. In her memory, the members of LASCI contributed to the planting of four Redwood trees in Redwood Grove.

- New Sister City?: In May, a LASCI delegation plans to visit the "3 B's", small cities in Germany near Stuttgart, to further investigate if a new Sister City there is viable for us.
